President's Message, Tom Yanoti

At a special meeting held on February 3rd, the PRPOA Board of Directors approved a request submitted by the Election Committee to have the PRPOA and Civic jointly sponsor one Candidates Forum.  The request stated that historically, the second forum is not well attended and having two forums so close together (in the same week) was a lot to ask of the candidates. They also cited that additional volunteers would be required which at times are not easy to come by.  Civic was happy to honor this request.  Therefore the Candidates Night scheduled for March 8th in lieu of our regular meeting will be a joint forum.  The Civic/PRPOA Candidates Night will take place in the community center starting at 7pm, but will be extended to 10pm, to allow for additional questions.  The format will remain the same.  Please take note, if you want to meet and greet the candidates running for the PRPOA Board of Directors, this will be your only opportunity.

A luncheon was recently held by the PRPOA Board to acknowledge and thank the volunteers on the many committees, who work for the betterment of our community.  Once again it was mostly the same people in the community that were being honored.  Another observation, many of these volunteers are also civic members who have been doing this most important work for many years.

On many occasions, I have asked for assistance and for volunteers.  Unfortunately, it always seems to be the same people that come forward.  To all our members, I would ask that you get involved.  For many of our members, the only way that they know what is happening in the community is through the Pine Ridge Post.  Civic is vital to the community, so that an independent perspective can be provided to our members. This is again a reminder to all who enjoy reading the monthly newsletter, attend meetings, or enjoy the many parties that we host, that this does not take place in a vacuum.  In order for Civic to stay strong and continue to be a vital voice in the community, we need your help.

The membership renewal application in your February Post listed dues incorrectly.  It read $8 for a single membership and $16 for a family membership.  It should have read $12 for a single membership and $20 for a family membership.  Sorry for the confusion.

The Audit Committee has completed its review of our financial records and we are happy to report that no discrepancies were found.  We thank the committee members Beverly Brown, Paul Mathis and Judy Beltowski.  Thanks also to our treasurer, Cherlyll Sedlock for doing such a great job.

We look forward to seeing many of you at the Civic/PRPOA Candidates Night. We hope that you continue to support the candidates that are fiscally responsible and are willing to work harmoniously with Board members and the Property Manager.
